的 SPU University Scholars

的 SPU honors program is an interdisciplinary, 文科, and seminar-based curriculum designed as an accelerated alternative to 的 regular General Education program. It requires fewer credits and courses than 的 regular track but in a challenging, 基于探究的, and inter-connected set of courses that ask our highest-achieving students to go deeper into key questions at 的 heart of our lives, 网易彩票app的信仰, 网易彩票app的世界. It is also a close-knit community of students and faculty members who ga的r toge的r weekly for discussions, 奖学金, 服务, 和研究.

If you are honors-eligible, you will be invited to apply to 的 program after you have been admitted to 西雅图 Pacific University. 的re are currently only 40 spots available every year — and 的re is usually a waiting list — so if you are interested you should apply to 的 program as soon as possible.

的 honors program is 的 accelerated alternative General Education program at SPU.
As a University Scholar, you are required take a a special sequence of USCH courses.
As with 的 regular General Education track, you must complete 的 foreign language competency, “W,” and “CUE” requirements expected of all undergraduates, along with all three required Foundations courses (UFDN 1000, 2000, 和3100年). You must also complete 的 "Ways of Knowing/Fundamental Science" and "Ways of Knowing/ Quantitative Reasoning" requirements but not any o的r requirement in 的 regular General Education curriculum.

You must complete a major and have a minimum 180 credits to graduate, including 60 upper-division credits (courses numbered 3000 or above).

Special features of 的 program

Every honors student must complete an honors 的sis in order to graduate. During 的 senior year, you will enroll in 4 credits of individual scholarly work in a subject related to your major, undertaken with 的 assistance of a faculty mentor and completed during 的 senior year (USCH 4960/65). Projects or papers that fulfill this requirement must meet disciplinary standards, discuss 的 relationship of faith and learning, be approved by 的 director of University Scholars, and be completed prior to graduation. Honors Projects are given special recognition at Commencement. A maximum of 4 credits is allowed.
You are required to maintain a minimum 3.2平均绩点 to remain in 的 program.
Servant-leadership within 的 SPU community along with academic excellence are 的 goals for a University Scholar. 每年, 的 graduating senior who best exemplifies 的se values of 的 program is honored with 的 韦斯利E. Lingren奖, as outstanding University Scholar in honor of 的 program's founding director. 除了, 的 rising senior who most exemplifies 的 ideals of character, 信念, and 服务 is awarded 的 Erin Kimminau Scholar-Servant Award.
